Opening at the Lavit Gallery, Cork on August 15this an exhibition  of paintings and sculptures by a selection of invited members from the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA).  Participating in the exhibition will be well known artists such as Veronica Bolay, Joe Dunne,  James English,  Martin Gale, Charles Harper,  Mick O' Dea, Vivienne Roche,  Thomas Ryan,  Una Sealy,  Blaise Smith  and  Imogen Stuart.

As the Lavit Gallery celebrates it's 50thanniversary it is fitting to be exhibiting members  of the RHA - one of Ireland's longest established visual arts organisations in the country(entering it's 3rdcentury).  The RHA is made up of 55 Members, all of whom are professional artists. It is a 32 county artist-led organization whose core remit is to support contemporary art and artists in Ireland through exhibition, education and advocacy. In its Gallagher Gallery, located in the centre of Dublin, it hosts many exhibitions and is probably most  known for it's annual open submission exhibition.

While many RHA members have exhibited and indeed selected exhibitions at the Lavit Gallery over the years, this particular exhibition is exciting in that it gives the opportunity to view the work of 11 invited members, together in one show.  Many of those exhibiting will be familiar to visitors of the Lavit Gallery.  Landscape, portraiture, still life and figurative work will all feature in a variety of styles  - painting ,print, sculpture and mixed media.   People within their environments both domestic and rural, classic still lives, colourful fields and mountains, soft garden scenes, religious subjects and references to Magdalene laundries are just some of the subjects of the works that will be on show. With a roll call of high caliber artists such as this list of exhibitors, it promises to be a very interesting exhibition.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Vivienne Roche,RHAon Thursday August 15that 8.00p.m. and will run until September 10th.
